Room 6 Makes Sushi and Tortillas

Recently for Big Learning, Room 6 have been learning about the similarities and differences among cultures. We have been focusing on the types of food various cultures eat. As part of this we made sushi and Spanish tortillas. Not only was this lots of fun, but delicious too!

Room 5 Problem Solving Fridays

Problem Solving Friday! Today students in room 5 looked at creating patterns with numbers on a grid.
It was fantastic to see students working with a buddy from another maths group, working and learning together. After problem solving with our buddies we all came together and students had the opportunity to share their solutions with the class.

Our Sensory Garden

A special group of students from room 5 have been working hard to make a beautiful Sensory Garden for our school community to enjoy. They are continuing on from the fantastic work the Sensory Garden Electives group began last year. Room 5 wrote letters to garden centres in Hamilton asking if they could donate some plants to us. We were extremely lucky when Orderings Garden centre in Rototuna contacted us and were more than happy to help us out.
They donated a range of sensory plants and we have started to plant them in our garden. We also have our signs ready and soon we hope to put them in the garden, so people will know which part of the garden represents which sense.

Friday Problem Solving

On Fridays Room 5 has been learning how to problem solve in maths. Our focus at the moment is to use materials to do this. In buddy groups, we are learning how to use a range of materials to solve problems and explain our solutions to the class. Check out our fantastic hard work below.
